Meanwhile, the pace of technological change has left a significant proportion of the older population unable to access services, stay safe online, or connect with family as they would wish.

The people who might help — family members, GPs, care coordinators — are overstretched. Phone calls go unanswered. Questions go unasked. Problems compound quietly, out of sight.

Eldridge attempts to be a bridge to the world of technology for those who feel left behind by it. He attempts to be a companion for anyone in need of a friendly ear and a solid advisor when others are not available. He is a reliable friend who remembers you — think of him as a friendly handrail to steady you as you navigate the modern age.

The Solution

Eldridge is a voice AI companion designed specifically for older adults. He speaks in warm, patient, educated British English. He remembers names, family members, preferences, and conversations. He helps with technology, identifies scams, provides companionship in quiet hours, and connects users to local information — all without requiring a download, a login, or any technical knowledge from the user.

He works on any device with a browser. A smartphone. A tablet. A laptop. One button. Nothing more.

Fraud & scam protection

Calm, clear identification of phone scams, suspicious emails, and doorstep fraud — framed to inform rather than alarm, and never making the user feel foolish.

Conversation, radio, local news, weather, entertainment recommendations, and simply being present — available at any hour, with no impatience and no agenda.

Medication and appointment reminders, help composing letters and messages, local service information — delivered in Eldridge's voice, never in the voice of a waiting room.

A 43-minute session on senior benefits and services, and a separate 57-minute session with a professional PA, demonstrate the depth of engagement Eldridge is capable of sustaining.

Pilot Programme

A structured 30-day evaluation — at no cost.

We are currently accepting a small number of formal pilot partners from the NHS, retirement housing, and telecare sectors. The pilot is designed as a genuine evaluation — not a demonstration — with clear terms on both sides.

30 days, up to 50 users, at no cost

We provide full access for a defined cohort of up to 50 users for 30 days. There is no charge for the pilot period. Eldridge is available on any device with a browser — no installation, no IT involvement required.

A named internal champion

We ask for a designated contact within your organisation who can attend a brief weekly check-in during the pilot and help facilitate user access. This ensures the evaluation is meaningful rather than nominal.

Honest written feedback at day 30

A structured evaluation report from your organisation at the end of the pilot period. This feeds directly into product development and is genuinely valued — not a formality.

First right of conversation on a paid contract

Pilot partners receive priority consideration for the first wave of licensed deployments. There is no obligation to proceed — but if the evaluation is positive, we would like the opportunity to discuss next steps before approaching the wider market.

Data & safeguarding. Eldridge retains session metadata (such as duration, topic, and outcome) and a persistent memory summary to enable continuity between conversations, such as remembering a user's name and preferences. Memory is kept for 12 months from a user's last conversation and is automatically deleted after a year of inactivity; users or their representatives can request earlier deletion at any time. Eldridge does not provide medical advice and defers to GPs and care professionals on all health matters. Full data handling documentation is available on request.

My father used to call me four or five times a week — a scam he had inadvertently signed up for, a television that had gone blank, a network that had stopped working. Most of the time the problem was easy to solve. Most of the time, I was too busy to help him right then and there.

I found myself imagining a more patient version of myself — available immediately, never too busy, never distracted. As AI voice technology matured, that imagined presence became buildable. Eldridge is the result.

The name comes from a character in my novel — a stalwart, loyal servant whose sole aim is to provide nothing short of excellent service. The spirit of Ask Jeeves, reimagined for an age when the technology can actually deliver on the promise.

I work in technology and have watched the knowledge gap between older adults and the digital world widen steadily. Eldridge is my attempt to bridge it — not with a manual or a helpline, but with a friend who happens to know rather a lot.
